Wood Box
I recently started woodworking as a hobby. There are lots of tools, and the quality ones can be expensive. Instead of diving in and spending a lot of money, I’m dipping my toe in the proverbial wooden box.
My first projects have been building simple wooden boxes. The first two were terrible, but the third box looked good. The picture of the third box is below.
I used cedar for the box and a common board for the lid. Sanding the wood, specifically the edges, was my favorite part. I stained the cedar with a clear stain, making the red look lovely.
To keep it all together, I used wood glue and nails. I wasn’t ready for dovetails, but I plan on making a box with dovetails next. I’ve always known having the proper tools makes things easier, but it is especially true when working with wood.
